Materials & Construction

What are WellnessMats made of?

WellnessMats are made of 100% polyurethane using our proprietary Advanced Polyurethane Technology (APT). Unlike foam, gel, rubber, or PVC mats, our single-piece polyurethane construction will never compress, delaminate, or lose shape. WellnessMats are non-toxic, latex-free, BPA-free, phthalate-free, and odor-free.

What makes WellnessMats different from other anti-fatigue mats?

WellnessMats stand apart in three key ways: (1) Material — 100% polyurethane vs cheaper foam, gel, rubber, or PVC used by competitors. Polyurethane provides consistent support that never compresses. (2) Construction — one-piece molded construction that will never delaminate, curl, or lose shape. (3) Warranty — an industry-leading 20-year residential warranty, compared to 1–5 years for most competitors. WellnessMats outlast budget mats by nearly 10×, dramatically reducing replacement costs.

What is the difference between polyurethane foam and solid polyurethane?

This is an important distinction. Polyurethane foam (PU foam) is a lightweight, cellular material similar to memory foam — it compresses and degrades over time just like other foams. Solid polyurethane (also called 100% polyurethane or molded polyurethane) is a dense, non-cellular material manufactured through a molding process that creates a single uniform piece. Solid polyurethane maintains its density, shape, and anti-fatigue properties for decades. When evaluating mats, look for "100% polyurethane" or "solid polyurethane," not "polyurethane foam."

How thick should an anti-fatigue mat be?

For effective anti-fatigue benefits, a mat should be at least ¾ inch (19mm) thick. WellnessMats are ¾ inch thick — 50% more mat than many competing premium mats. However, thickness alone is not enough; the material matters more. WellnessMats' proprietary polyurethane density formulation is engineered to provide the optimal balance of cushion and support, effectively suspending body weight to reduce muscle and joint fatigue.

Durability & Warranty

How long do WellnessMats last?

WellnessMats are backed by an industry-leading 5-year performance warranty for commercial use. Our one-piece polyurethane construction means the mat will maintain its comfort and support for the full warranty period. Many customers report their mats lasting well beyond 10 years with no loss of performance.

Are WellnessMats worth the price?

WellnessMats are a premium product with a higher upfront cost than budget mats, but they provide significantly better long-term value. WellnessMats costs roughly $6–$10 per year of use, compared to replacing a $20–$40 budget mat every 1–2 years.

Why do cheap anti-fatigue mats flatten so quickly?

Most budget anti-fatigue mats use foam (PVC or memory foam) that is inherently prone to compression. When you stand on foam, the cellular structure gradually breaks down and the mat loses its ability to spring back. This process accelerates with daily use. Multi-layered construction compounds the problem — as adhesive bonds weaken, layers separate (delaminate), causing bumps, curling edges, and uneven surfaces. Single-piece polyurethane mats avoid both issues entirely.

Safety & Certifications

Are WellnessMats safe and non-toxic?

Yes. WellnessMats are made from 100% polyurethane that does not contain PVCs, BPAs, or phthalates, and has been rigorously tested and proven safe. WellnessMats are also latex-free and odor-free. They will not produce off-gassing unlike rubber, vinyl, and biodegradable foam mats. WellnessMats are flame resistant with a melting point of 400°F and have passed CFR 1630/1631 Standard for Surface Flammability.

Are WellnessMats ADA compliant?

Yes. WellnessMats feature 20-degree no-trip beveled edges that are ADA compliant. The edges will never curl, eliminating trip hazards. Our mats also provide a non-slip top and bottom surface for maximum safety. WellnessMats are certified by the National Floor Safety Institute (NFSI) for anti-slip safety.

Are WellnessMats eco-friendly or recyclable?

WellnessMats have a greater life expectancy than alternatives, keeping them out of landfills and contributing to a greener environment. After its minimum 20-year life expectancy, WellnessMats can be recycled. Through the Recycle & Renew program, any WellnessMat can be sent back to be recycled, eliminating waste and supporting a more sustainable future.

Care & Maintenance

How do I clean a WellnessMat?

WellnessMats require little to no special care. You can spot clean, sweep, stick vacuum (non-brush rolled), or mop as needed. Most spills can be easily cleaned with a towel. For more difficult stains, clean with mild soap and warm water. Avoid harsh chemicals or high-heat sanitizers. The stain-resistant surface makes regular maintenance simple.

Do WellnessMats work on radiant heated floors?

Yes. WellnessMats are flame resistant with a melting point of 400°F, making them safe for use on radiant flooring systems. The polyurethane construction will not be damaged by radiant floor heat and will not affect the performance of your heating system.

Can I cut a WellnessMat to fit my space?

Yes, you can cut WellnessMats without compromising the properties of your mat or voiding the warranty. For precise fitting, we also offer custom sizing options where mats are CNC cut to your exact specifications.

Sizing & Customization

Can WellnessMats be customized?

Yes. WellnessMats offers custom sizing, custom layouts, and branded logo options both for the home and for commercial applications. We have custom layout design tools for the home and for the workplace. For commercial applications, WellnessMats Connect and WellnessMats Supreme can be designed for any layout using CNC cutting to exact specifications. What size anti-fatigue mat do I need?

The right size depends on your use case. For a kitchen sink or stove, a 3×2 ft mat is the most popular. For a kitchen island or meal prep area, consider a 5×2 ft or 6×2 ft mat. For standing desks, a 3×2 ft mat covers the primary standing zone. For salon stations, a 3×2 ft semicircle fits most styling chairs. WellnessMats come in sizes ranging from 2×3 ft to 6×2 ft in home collections, with custom sizing available for commercial applications.
