Good News for Your Feet and Your Wallet: WellnessMats Home Mats Are Now FSA/HSA Eligible at Checkout
We've added a new payment option at checkout, and it's one a lot of you have been asking for: you can now use your FSA or HSA dollars toward WellnessMats Home mats, powered by our partner Truemed.
That means the same pre-tax money you set aside for health expenses can go toward the mat that's been supporting your feet, back, and joints in the kitchen, at the standing desk, or anywhere you spend hours on your feet at home.
Here's what that means, why our mats qualify, and exactly how it works at checkout.
First, the important part: this is for our Home line only
FSA/HSA checkout through Truemed is available on our housewares, the WellnessMats Home collection (Original, Granite, Bella, Linen, Trellis, and Home Fitness). It applies to mats purchased for personal, in-home use.
Our Professional, Salon, and Pro Fitness lines are commercial products and aren't part of this program. So if you're shopping for your kitchen, your laundry room, your hobby bench, or your home office, you're in the right place.
A quick primer: what are FSA and HSA dollars?
A Flexible Spending Account (FSA) and a Health Savings Account (HSA) are tax-advantaged accounts that let you set aside money before taxes to pay for qualified medical expenses. Because that money is never taxed, using it effectively stretches your dollar further than paying out of pocket.
The catch has always been the rules around what counts as "qualified." Prescriptions and doctor visits are automatic. Other health-supporting products sit in a gray area, and that's exactly the gap Truemed was built to close.
Why a WellnessMats mat can qualify
The IRS defines qualified medical expenses (under Section 213(d)) as costs tied to the diagnosis, cure, mitigation, treatment, or prevention of disease, and for the purpose of affecting any part or function of the body. Many everyday health products can meet that definition when a licensed provider determines they're medically necessary for your situation, and documents it in a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN).
That's where our mats come in. A WellnessMats anti-fatigue mat isn't a decorative kitchen rug, it's an ergonomic tool engineered to change how your body handles prolonged standing:
-
Reduces standing fatigue. Our proprietary APT (Advanced Polyurethane Technology) surface gives just enough support to take the strain off your feet, knees, hips, and lower back over long stretches of standing.
-
Encourages healthy micromovements. A hard floor locks your posture in place. Our surface subtly engages the small stabilizing muscles in your legs and feet, keeping you moving in tiny ways that support circulation and reduce stiffness.
-
Eases pressure on joints and the spine. By absorbing impact and reducing the load that standing places on your musculoskeletal system, the mat helps mitigate the kind of strain that contributes to chronic foot, knee, and back discomfort.
-
Built to last and stay clean. Made in Sullivan, Missouri with no harmful printed top layers, sealed against spills, and backed by a 20-year residential warranty — so it keeps doing its job for years.
For people managing conditions like chronic lower-back pain, plantar fasciitis, poor circulation, or joint issues aggravated by standing, those attributes are exactly the kind of thing a provider recognizes as medically supportive.
And here's the reassuring part: WellnessMats Home mats have already been vetted and approved as eligible products within Truemed's program. Because the product itself is pre-approved, the vast majority of customers who complete the health survey qualify without a hitch — so it's highly unlikely you'll be turned down.
How it works at checkout: the Truemed process, step by step
Truemed integrates directly into our checkout, so the whole thing happens in a few minutes without leaving your purchase. Here's the flow:
1. Use "Checkout as Guest" if logged into SHOP PAY. When you reach the payment step on a qualifying Home mat, select the "Pay with HSA/FSA — Truemed" option. (If a Shop Pay pop-up appears, close it to continue as guest.)
2. Complete a short, private health survey. Truemed will guide you through a brief clinical intake survey about your health and how you'll use the mat. It takes just a couple of minutes and is reviewed confidentially.
3. Pay however works best for you. Once you're qualified, pay the way that suits you — there's no single required method. Enter your HSA or FSA card directly at checkout, use a regular credit or debit card, or split the total across both if your account balance doesn't cover the whole purchase. Truemed sends you the signed LMN and a receipt either way, so your purchase is fully documented.
4. A licensed provider reviews your responses. An independent, licensed healthcare provider in Truemed's network reviews your survey. If a WellnessMats mat is appropriate to help treat, mitigate, or prevent a relevant condition for you, they issue a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN) on your behalf — typically within 24–48 hours. Once the LMN is approved, your order is sent for fulfillment and will arrive within it's designated shipping window.
5. Keep the documentation — and reuse it for 12 months. Your LMN and receipt are your proof that the purchase is a qualified medical expense. If you paid with your HSA/FSA card, keep them on file in case your administrator ever asks for backup; if you paid another way, submit them for reimbursement (most administrators process these in about 7–10 business days). Either way, the LMN stays valid for 12 months, so additional qualifying WellnessMats purchases in that window are covered too. When it expires, a quick re-survey gets you a fresh one.
A couple of helpful notes: if you don't have enough in your account to cover the full amount, you can submit for partial reimbursement and pay the rest as normal. And if a provider determines a mat isn't medically necessary for you, the order is simply cancelled — no charge.
What you actually save: your "effective cost"
This is the part that makes FSA/HSA more than a convenience. Because that money is set aside before taxes, paying with it lowers what the mat truly costs you — by an amount equal to your tax rate.
For many households, that's 30% or more once federal income tax, state tax, and payroll taxes are factored in. So a $200 WellnessMat paid with pre-tax dollars at a 30% combined rate has an effective cost of about $140. In a higher bracket, it costs you even less.
You're not getting a markdown on the sticker price — you're skipping the tax you'd otherwise pay on that income. On a mat built to last decades, that's real money staying in your pocket.
(Exact savings depend on your tax bracket and account type; the example above is illustrative.)
The bottom line
WellnessMats has always been about supporting your body where you spend the most time on your feet — the brand's whole philosophy is for work, for life. Making our Home line eligible for FSA/HSA dollars is a natural extension of that: the wellness benefit you already feel underfoot, now potentially paid for with the health money you've already set aside.
Ready to give your feet the upgrade? Shop the WellnessMats Home collection and look for the Truemed option at checkout.
A quick note: while WellnessMats Home mats are approved within Truemed's program, final qualification rests with the reviewing provider, and how much you save depends on your tax situation and plan. This article is general information, not tax or medical advice — check with your plan administrator or a tax professional about your specifics. The clinical review and Letter of Medical Necessity are issued by licensed providers in Truemed's independent network.
